Three Normal Humans, Weekend at Bellevue (2001) - Three Normal Humans are a very normal folk rock combo from New York City. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, TNH have released an entertaining disk.
Although, I almost didn't make it past the cover (which looks like some kind of punk rock thing). But once you get inside, you'll find that Don Shacknai (vocals and guitar), Brian Moren (guitar and vocals) and J. P. Kiernan ("All Percussion, All the Time") are a user-friendly combo.
With songs like "I'm in Love (With the Girl from Cell Block 3)" and "I Don't Want to Look Like Anyone," it's hard not to draw a smile at the Humans.
The Humans have been honing their act at acoustic-friendly Greenwich Village clubs and enlisted producer Marty Rifkin to help record Weekend at Bellevue. Backing musicians include Bob Malone, Teresa James, and Joey Scarbury.
Three Normal Humans carry on a proud music tradition - demented folk rock, with pleasing harmonies (listen for the gentle backing vocals on "I Blame You") and jabs at contemporary society.
